Their favorite family activity is spending weekends at their cabin on Lake Wenatchee. When not involved with “family time”, Marty often finds himself weight training, playing golf with his buddies or watching his favorite football teams (Seattle Seahawks and Oregon State Beavers).
Annette Coates, MPT
Annette was born in Texas but as a military dependent she didn’t stay there long. After her dad retired from the military she started calling Tennessee home. She too took the route of joining the military and retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. She got her spark and interest in physical therapy after helping her father recover and rehabilitate following a below the knee amputation, as well as participating in physical therapy herself after a few knee surgeries. Annette returned school in 2003 and attended the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center (OUHSC), where she received her Master’s in Physical Therapy. While attending OUHSC, Annette took on advanced classes in sports medicine and sought out additional training in manual therapy techniques. Annette moved to Washington in 2006 after graduation and has enjoyed living in Burlington since that time. She continues to seek additional training in manual therapy techniques, sports medicine, and orthopedics. Annette has done internships in Hawaii, Seattle, and has also sought advanced training in Australia.
“We are the only profession I know that tries to make it to where our patients don’t need us. We do this by teaching our patients how to manage their symptoms, how to strengthen and stabilize, and how to continue their exercises to prevent reoccurrences. It is then up to our patients to maintain their strength, effectively manage any symptoms, and continue to exercise to prevent future occurrences.” ~Annette Coates~

Stefani Riebe, PTA
Stefani is a native Californian whose family moved to Washington in 1977. She lived in the Olympia area until she graduated high school and left to attend Washington State University in 1989. Her interest in physical therapy sparked from her Grandfather who was a Diabetic amputee. Stef’s desire to help him and others like him lead her to apply to the new program in P.T. assisting at Whatcom Community College in 1993. While there, her hard work not only put her on the Dean’s List, but helped to get the new program accredited. She earned her degree in 1994 and received her license from Oregon State a short time later.
Since then, Stefani has worked in a variety of clinical settings from acute care hospitals, outpatient clinics and skilled nursing facilities throughout western Washington. Her favorites include working in outpatient orthopedics and with the senior population. She has also volunteered with the MS Association of King County in their pool therapy program.
When not at work, Stef can be found hiking around King and Whatcom Counties, kayaking on the sound, ballroom dancing, participating in charity fundraising events, or spending time with her family and playing with her dog, Shasta.
